ORTHODOX CHURCH
IN ŁOSINKA
The history of the village of Łosinka dates back to the 18th century. Back then, the manor was in the hands of J.K. Branicki, the starost of Bielsk Podlaski, together with his wife Izabela. And it was Izabela who turned out to be an important patron of sacred art. She supported the construction of the Orthodox church, allocated the land and granted tax exemptions.
This small cemetery Orthodox church has three parts: it is composed of a porch, a rectangular nave and a semi-hexagonally terminated presbytery. It was built in 1882 (the porch i.e. the women’s gallery was added one year later) when the cemetery was transferred. Despite many refurbishments that have taken place since World War 2, the church looked quite modest in the 21st century. Fortunately, in 2009 it was refurbished again and looks splendid today.
We warmly encourage you to visit Łosinka, also due to the St James the Apostle Orthodox church. You can read about it on our website as well.
