Church
IN BALDWINOWICE
The oldest information concerning the local church dates from 1414. The presbytery and the sacristy were built of brick, however the construction was interrupted. Around 1538, the church was taken over by the Evangelicals, who enlarged the structure and gave it the current shape. In the 17th century, the tower was added and in 1654 the church became Catholic again. The current structure, with a nave and a narrower presbytery, is characteristic for the Gothic style. The Late-Gothic altarpiece triptych, from around 1525, has lasted until today, just like the epitaph of Ulbrycht Herttl left by the Evangelicals. The epitaph dating from 1626 is decorated with coats of arms and with a representation of the founder kneeling before a crucifix.
Inside, we can admire polychromies executed in 1907 by Alfred Schneider. Also, one painting from the 18th century has been preserved. It is also worth paying attention to the 18th century organ, which came from the village of Rychtal in 1860.
The Late-Baroque altar presents the scene of the Coronation of Mary with Joachim and Anne. It was sculpted in 1720. In the above-mentioned altarpiece triptych, we will see Madonna and Child with Sainte Anne and the side panels of the altar present St. Barbara and St. Catherine as well as the scene of Visitation. It is worth paying attention to the pulpit from the turn of the 16th and the 17th centuries.
